Our 40th Anniversary CD
AT HOME
with the Glen Ellyn
Children’s Chorus!
Give the gift of song with a new CD of the GECC’s outstanding performances from 2004 and earlier. From inspiring to toe-tapping, this reflects the quintessential GECC with live performances conducted by Artistic Director Emily Ellsworth and memorable selections from Doreen Rao’s standard-setting days with the GECC in the late 1980’s. Delight your family and friends with this captivating collection of beautiful music.
Selections range from the jazzy A-Tisket, A-Tasket (a children’s chorus singing jazz was unheard of when Doreen Rao asked David Elliott to arrange this piece for the GECC) to the hauntingly beautiful Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, “Aria” (an ethereal, soaring melody accompanied by 6 cellos), as well as a Bach duet, opera selections, and so much more. See the complete listing of repertoire below. Additional selections you can listen to here are: Sing Creation’s Music On, Opening Chorus from the Bartered Bride, and Fairest Lady.
This anniversary CD reflects some of the musical influences that have long been championed and performed with distinction by the GECC: newly commissioned works by major composers, world music which challenges and makes us more aware of the world and its people, music of our own European heritage, and opera for young voices. GECC’s ground-breaking legacy has served as a model for others across the country.
