William
Buhr enjoys a national reputation as an accompanist,
chamber musician, adjudicator and clinician. Widely
sought as a performer, he is a member of the music
faculty at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn,
Illinois, has toured Illinois and Wisconsin in more
than 300 performances as Music Director for Illinois
Opera for the Young, and enjoys an association with
the Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus dating to 1984.
He has also served as the accompanist of the New
Classic Singers, the resident professional choir
at the College of DuPage, since 1986.
Holding degrees from the University of Illinois and DePaul University,
Mr. Buhr performs extensively throughout North America and Europe
and has appeared in many international festivals, as well as numerous
national conventions of major musical and educational organizations.
He has accompanied the Chicago Symphony Chorus at the invitation of
founder/director Margaret Hillis, and has accompanied James Levine,
Michael Tilson Thomas, Yo-Yo Ma, Berndt Weikl, June Anderson and others
at the Ravinia Festival.
Mr. Buhr has been on the faulty of the Choral Music
Experience since its inception in 1986. He has played
for the national touring companies of numerous Broadway
musicals including Showboat, Disney's Beauty
and the Beast, and The Phantom of the Opera.
Mr Buhr's recent activities include working with
Stephen Sondheim, Patti LuPone, Michael Cerveris
and Audra McDonald in the Ravinia Festival productions
of Sunday in the Park with George and Anyone
Can Whistle.
